Higher Education
Most public and private universities offer undergraduate and graduate programs. They award academic and professional degrees, such as Law, Engineering, Medicine.
Most universities are organized in schools.

UNDERGRADUATE/PROFESSIONAL PROGRAMS
Students take programs of study called “carreras” in specific fields.
In general, undergradute and professional programs take 4,5 or 6 years of full-time study and give academic/professional training in a field of studies. Students must take a number of introductory courses and entrance examinations to be admitted.
Public education in Argentina is free while private education requires the payment of fees.
Over the last few years, the private Argentine system of higher education has experienced considerable growth. Nowadays students have a wide variety of options when choosing between public and private institutions.
Some universities in certain programs of study “carreras”  award degrees after the completion of the first three years.
